A personal trainer for over 30 years, Tony Mark has successfully founded and led multiple public and private gyms, and workout facilities in Canada and the United States.
In the early 90s, Tie Domi and Lennox Lewis recruited Tony to launch their midtown Toronto high-end fitness club. By 2001 Tony opened his own gym, Balance Fitness, and has subsequently opened two additional fitness facilities.
Tony is a highly sought-after private trainer who works locally and internationally. His clients include members of Canada’s business elite and professional athletes such as the late Galen Weston and his wife Hilary, Paul Godfrey, Alexander Ovechkin, Andrea Markof, and Julian DeGuzman.
A professional speaker, Tony has appeared on TV, addressed numerous health organizations such as The Women’s Brain Health Initiative, and created a podcast on wellness.
Abadi Merwass is a passionate advocate for movement and health since 2015. He holds a Kinesiology degree from the University of Toronto (2019) and a Masters in Osteopathic Manual Sciences from the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy (2023). His approach revolves around holistic methods to nurture and strengthen the body, combining osteopathic therapy with specialized fitness training tailored to individuals of all ages and fitness levels.
Abadi specializes in the restoration of function, enhancing joint stability, and the prevention of injuries, all of which result in remarkable health improvements for clients dealing with postural issues, chronic injuries, and more. His treatments are widely acclaimed by patients for their proven effectiveness.
Adding to his commitment to the community, Abadi has recently commenced his clinical practice here at Balance Fitness as an osteopathic manual practitioner, further extending his dedication to aiding and supporting individuals on their health and wellness journeys.
Jocelynn McGee
Jocelynn is a movement enthusiast, anatomy nerd, and rehab specialist dedicated to helping people move, feel, and perform better. Born and raised in Calgary, she grew up as both a professional figure skater and rugby player—until a career-ending injury shifted her focus to rehabilitation.
A high-honors Kinesiology graduate from the University of Toronto, Jocelynn is now pursuing her Master’s in Rehabilitation Sciences while continuing her research in clinical anatomy. With hands-on experience in rehab settings and a deep understanding of human movement, she takes an individualized, evidence-based approach to training.
Whether it’s injury recovery, strength training, or functional movement, Jocelynn believes everyone deserves to move pain-free and with confidence.
Greg has been a personal trainer for over 12 years. He is a graduate of the Fitness and Lifestyle Management program at George Brown College and is a certified Personal Trainer Specialist with CAN-FIT Pro, the fitness industry’s certification organization. Greg’s overall approach is to first educate, then motivate and, finally, challenge.
His personal training programs are safe and effective with workouts that are challenging, yet achievable. Every workout includes stretching and exercises to improve joint mobility. Many Balance members have turned to Greg for help in relieving back and joint issues, or advice on returning to an active lifestyle after an injury or surgery.
When not at Balance, Greg competes in marathons, run/bike events, and triathlons. He has completed the Boston Marathon and recently a 125 km trail run.
Márcio is the no-talent, genetically flawed, nerd-turned-jock, martial artist, and coach who gets results regardless of limitations, resources, or background.
Born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, he relocated to Canada in 1998 and has worked as a full-time fitness professional since 2001. Possessing multiple health certifications and having a background in volleyball, Thai boxing, pilates, post-rehabilitation, and longevity, Márcio has a holistic philosophy toward training. As someone who has had a double hip replacement, he knows firsthand the importance of rehabilitation. Blending personal and professional philosophies, Márcio believes that regardless of your age, genetic makeup, or talent, you can always feel, look, and perform better.
Our Instructors
Terry M. Chang is a group fitness, yoga, and meditation teacher. His philosophy is to move and engage with presence and gratitude. After 20+ years in corporate media & content, he now balances his freelance assignments and shares his passion for movement and mindfulness. His philosophy comes from the words of Buddhist monk and author Thich Nhat Hanh: "The most precious gift we can offer others is our presence."
Juliana was a classical ballet dancer for 13 years, so body movement is something that has always fascinated her. Her passion for pilates started over 14 years ago in Brazil where she is originally from. After experiencing a lumbar disc herniation she started practicing pilates and hasn’t stopped! A few years later, she decided to become an expert in the method, wanting to help and inspire people to also live a healthy, pain-free, and balanced life. Juliana has achieved her certification for mat and reformer at STOTT Pilates International Training Centre in Toronto. She is a very motivating, inclusive, and passionate instructor who creates a fun and energizing learning environment while ensuring her clients feel strong and confident in their own bodies!
Reina Cowan
Reina is a graduate of the fall 2023 YTT 200-hour program at Downward Dog Yoga Centre. Coming from a dance background, she brings a creative and fluid approach to her classes. She loves to provide opportunities for mindful movement with supportive props and deep relaxation. Whether moving quickly or slowly, her goal is always to help students access the link between body, breath, and mind.
Reina encourages her students to find comfort in experimenting with new postures and breath techniques while being gentle with themselves, hoping to inspire a sense of play. Always committed to deepening her personal practice, she believes in a holistic approach to yoga. Whether it's treating those around you with compassion or finding simple moments to breathe and quiet the mind, she believes in yoga as a tool for living a kinder, healthier, happier life.
A fitness professional for the past 14 years teaching group classes and privates, Derek Friday has snagged certifications in several disciplines. He began his journey at the age of five as a ballet dancer, quickly moving up through the world of professional dance. From pilates mat and reformer to indoor cycling and weight training, Derek has acquired a vast and particular knowledge of movement. Having been a ballet dancer for many years led him to develop his own brand of barre classes beloved by many. He brings his unique style to all forms of movement that he instructs.
Max is a professional Latin dancer with over 10 years of competition and teaching experience. Dance holds a special and sacred place in his heart and has always been a huge part of his life. Among numerous domestic and international competitions and festivals, Max was also representing the national team of Ukraine at the European and World Championships in Blackpool, England and competed for the UK in 2016-2017. Having danced and trained in different countries around the world, he combined his love of dance with his love or teaching, and has brought it all together in his Zumba classes.
Abigail has always been fascinated by how the body moves. Her journey with the Feldenkrais Method began years ago when she attended a workshop on spinal alignment with Dr. Aarti Rana. Intrigued by how movement could feel lighter and easier, she continued exploring the method in Marion Harris’ classes. The results were life-changing, bringing greater ease and efficiency to her movement—whether walking, running, swimming, or lifting weights. Inspired, Abigail became a certified Feldenkrais Practitioner®. She now helps others find ways to move more comfortably and with less pain. She believes that paying attention to how we move is key to improving, no matter our age. Abigail’s approach is warm, encouraging, and dedicated to helping other active people mover more easily, with less pain and more joy so they can continue to enjoy all the activities they love.

Ranked as a Top-50 Golf Instructor in Canada and as the only Canadian PGA Professional since 1912 to win three major championships in the same calendar year, Danny is also a certified Mind Coach under the tutelage of Dr. Karl Morris. This background allows him to help clients develop mental strategies for practicing both on and off the golf course. Danny’s teaching philosophy and passion is to reach every client’s individual goals He is very grateful to have been surrounded by the greatest Canadian coaches and players in the world and is indebted to the late George Knudson, Ben Kern, Al Balding, and Jerry Anderson. In addition to, Sean Foley, Bob Panasik, Dr. Karl Morris, Martin Chuck, and Mark Evershed. When not at Balance or out on the green, Danny is the Director of Instruction at the Magna Golf Club.
Luke is the founder and sole proprietor at Birdbro Golf. He has a keen passion for the fundamentals of golf and their implications for high performance. His coaching strategy is rooted in getting players to know their game, tie that knowledge to that of the fundamentals and help players make better, more informed decisions on the course and in practice. Each and every player is different; Luke prescribes, and curates detailed performance plans whilst simultaneously educating the client to ensure they maximize their own capacity for growth and results. He also co-launched & directed the Jamaica Junior National Team Trials Training Program 2021 in partnership with Swing Solutions Ltd.
